Abstract :
Generator is an electric machine to make electrical energy by converting motion energy into electrical energy. In the generator there is an excitation system that serves to channel the excitation amplification current to the generator rotor. The regulated excitation current will affect the amount of reactive power released by the generator so as to stabilize the generator output voltage. From the data and calculations obtained, the variation of the excitation current (If) from 01:00 to 24:00, affects the change in reactive power (Q), by setting the excitation current (If) it will result in an increase and decrease in the value of the magnetic flux along with changes in excitation current (If), thereby changing the required reactive power (Q). Calculations have been made that the average change in reactive power (Q) is 8.13% (7.7 MVAR) which is caused by changes in the excitation current (If) on average, which is 3.28% (3.83 A). So it can be said that the effect of the excitation current (If) on the reactive power (Q) is when the excitation current increases (If) it can increase the reactive power (Q), and vice versa when the excitation current (If) decreases it can decrease the reactive power (Q). 2. When the reactive power (Q) is 131.9159 MVAR, the power factor decreases to 0.9292. This power factor is the lowest on March 30, 2022. This is because the excitation current (If) is the largest at 135.9978 A and the reactive power (Q) is the largest at 131.9159 MVAR. Therefore the influence of reactive power (Q) variations can affect the power factor, when reactive power (Q) is small, the power factor will be greater or closer to 1, but when reactive power (Q) is large it will be smaller or away from the value 1.
