Abstract :
The occurrence of a power outage is a problem that occurs in the midst of increasing
electricity needs. In meeting the reliability of the PLN electric power system, it sometimes
/ often carries out outages in various regions. Waste sorters need a continuous supply of
electricity so that they can activate if the power goes out. With a UPS (Uninterruptible
Power Supply) it can be used to provide a backup supply to the waste sorter when the
power goes out. This study aims to design and create a mictocontroller-based UPS for
waste sorters. UPS is divided into various types, this study can use 2 different UPS modes,
namely online and offline. Offline mode has a transition time of movement from PLN to
battery or vice versa, while online has no transition time. This tool is designed using
Arduino UNO as a sensor controller and relay. The ZMPT101B sensor as a voltage gauge
has a largeest size error of only 0.12%. The ACS712 sensor as a current meter has the
most difficulty of 23%. From the test results showed that the use of the UPS mode does
not affect the quality of the power flow entering the load. The average power comparison
when PLN went out on the working waste sorter between online and offline UPS modes
showed 5.23 W and 4.77 W.
