Abstract :
The accumulation of waste is a problem that we must consider. Managing the waste can
reduce the accumulation of waste. Sorting waste can help with the problem, but people
have difficulty distinguishing the types of waste and don't want to waste their time doing
it. This research is expected to help the community sort waste and help waste
management. Research conducts the design and builds of an automatic waste sorting tool
with the Arduino-based binary tree concept, will test the tool's characteristics, and review
the application of the binary tree concept on the tool. This tool is designed using Arduino
mega 2560 as a controller of sensors and actuator. HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor as an
object detector has an error in stabilization the most distance is 25%. Inductive proximity
sensors as metal detectors have a 100% success rate, while capacitive proximity sensors
as organic waste detectors have a success rate of 85.7%. Of the 90 experiments with
garbage, the tool has a success rate of 82,2%, and This tool has applied the concept of
binary tree in sorting waste automatically.
