Abstract :
Rumah Gadang is one of the elements that symbolizes the identity of the City of West Sumatra and the Minangkabau tribe. Kampung thousand Rumah Gadang is an area located in Sungai Pagu Solok Selatan sub-district, West Sumatra. In this village, the Rumah Gadang is used as a dwelling for important events such as weddings, deliberations, death, and others. Each Rumah Gadang architecture has a different meaning. The creation of this final project uses Aesthetic and Semiotic approaches, while the method of creation uses Practice Based Research. The six long cloth batik works use the Rumah Gadang motif and the Rumah Gadang architecture which is explored in long cloth works by taking elements from the Rumah Gadang, the ornaments on the Rumah Gadang, the roof on the Rumah Gadang, and the shape of the Rumah Gadang, the long cloth batik work using written batik technique with the process of coloring the lid, dye and dab by combining natural and synthetic colors.
