Abstract :
In this research, the researcher formulates four problem statements, they are
the names of the cited-printed journal and the amount of the journal citations in
the thesis, the highest and lowest percentage of the cited-printed journal, the
journal’s recency, and the availability of the printed journal. This research is
proposed to know the name of the printed journal and the amount of the journal
citations, the highest and lowest percentage, the recency and the availability of the
printed journal in the library of Law Faculty of Indonesian Islamic University
Yogyakarta. It is a descriptive quantitative research with 159 data of thesis titles.
The researcher does the interview, observation and documentation to collect the
data. The analysis of this research uses citation analysis method toward the
student’s thesis references. The results are; (1) There are 39 journal titles which
make 69 journal citations and they have been used in the 50 thesis titles of the
student of Law Study Chapter 2008-2009 (31,44%). (2) The highest percentage of
the cited-printed journal is achieved by the Law Journal (15,94%), whereas the
lowest one is handed by 31 journals with 1 citation of each (1,44%). (3) The
constraint of very latest printed journal collection which is given to the new
literature attain the age of 0-5 years so the result shows that there are 23 journal
citations (33,33%) included in the category of the very latest and 46 citations
(66,67%) does not included in the very latest category. (4) The printed journal
availability shows that there are 17 journals (43,59%) are available in the library
and 22 journal (56,41%) are not available in the libraryThe Most cited journal in
Law Science’s thesis chapter 2008-2009, does not available in the Library of Law
Faculty Indonesian Islamic University Yogyakarta yet. Hopefully, the supply of
the printed journal can be increased to fulfill student’s necessity. Hence, the using
of the printed journal will be more optimal.
