PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS MELALUI PENDEKATAN
CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING (CTL) SISWA KELAS IX
SMP AL KAUTSAR BANDARLAMPUNG

Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah kurangnya hasil belajar dan tingkat
kemampuan menulis siswa kelas IX SMP Al Kautsar Bandarlampung. Tujuan
penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan (1) Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran
(RPP) dengan pendekatan CTL, (2) pelaksanaan pembelajaran menulis teks pidato
dengan menggunakan pendekatan CTL, (3) sistem penilaian pembelajaran dengan
menggunakan pendekatan CTL, (4) kemampuan menulis kelas IX SMP Al
Kautsar Bandarlampung dengan menggunakan pendekatan CTL.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom
action research). Objek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IX B. Penelitian ini
dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Siklus I menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual
dengan penekanan pada konstruktivisme, masyarakat belajar, inkuiri, dan
penilaian autentik. Siklus II menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual dengan
penekanan pada kontruktivisme, inkuiri, bertanya, masyarakat belajar, dan
penilaian autentik. Siklus III penekanan pada masyarakat belajar, pemodelan,
refleksi, dan penilaian autentik. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik observasi dan
tes. Data dianalisis dengan cara kualitatif dan kuantitatif berdasarkan prinsip
PTK.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran
(RPP) melalui pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual yaitu dari siklus I cukup,
siklus II meningkat menjadi baik, siklus III meningkat menjadi sangat baik.
Begitu pula untuk pelaksanaan pembelajaran melalui pendekatan pembelajaran
kontekstual, yaitu dari siklus I cukup, siklus II meningkat menjadi baik, siklus
III meningkat menjadi sangat baik. Untuk sistem penilaian juga mengalami
peningkatan yaitu siklus I rata-rata nilai siswa 70, siklus II meningkat menjadi 73
dan siklus III 83. Peningkatan kemampuan menulis teks pidato melalui
pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual yaitu prasiklus 66,20 siklus I meningkat
70,27 ada peningkatan sebesar 4,07, siklus II 73,33 ada peningkatan sebesar 3,46
dan siklus III 83,33 ada peningkatan sebesar 9,6.

ABSTRACT
THE IMPROVEMENT OF STUDENTS WRITING ABILITY THROUGH
CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING (CTL) APPROACH AT
CLASS IX SMP AL KAUTSAR BANDARLAMPUNG

The problem in this research is the lack of learning result and level of students
writing ability of class IX at SMP Al Kautsar Bandarlampung. This research is
aimed to increase (1) the lesson plans, (2) the learning implementation of writing
speech text, (3) learning scoring system , (4) students’ writing ability class IX at
SMP Al Kautsar Bandarlampung through CTL.
The method of this research is a classroom action research, while this research
object is student of class IX B. This research was conducted in three cycles. Cycle
I used a contextual approach by demanding on constructivism, learning
community, inquiry, and authentic assessment. Cycle II used a contextual
approach by demanding on constructivism, learning community, inquiry, question
and authentic assessment. Cycle III demanded on learning community, modelling,
reflection, and authentic assessment. The data was collected by observation
technique and test. However, it was analyzed by combining qualitative and
quantitative one.
The result of this research showed an improvement of lesson plans through
contextual learning approach. The result of Cycle I indicated a fair increase. Cycle
II resulted a slight climb from fair to good. However, the result of Cycle III
showed an excellent point. It also occured in the implementation of learning
through contextual learning approach, which showed fair for Cycle I, good for
Cycle II, and excellent for Cycle III. There was assessment system which also
experienced an improvement in all cycle. Cycle I showed an increase which
students’ average score was 70. In Cycle II, there was a slight rise for about 73.
However, a leap result was gotten in which it showed 83 for the students’ average
score. On the other hand, the improvement of writing ability for speech text
through contextual learning approach was about 4.07 which was from 66.20 in
pre-Cycle to 70.27 in Cycle I, meanwhile the slight rise in Cycle II was about
3.46. However, a leap which occured in Cycle III was about 9.6.
