Abstract :
According to the Household Health Survey in 2001, adolescent
females
was
determined as a vulnerable group f
or anemia with 26.5% prevalence.
Improper
dieting behavior by reducing staple food and protein source food can lead to
nutritional status
problems among adolescent females
.
This study aimed at finding the relationship
between dietary behavior and
incidence of iron deficiency in adolscent females in SMA N 1 Sleman.
The data collecting was conducted in January 2011 using the analytical survey
research design and cross sectional time approach. The sample was chosen using
random sampling as many as 52 respondents.
The hypothetical test using chi square correlation formula resulted in the value
of r calculated 0,650 with significance rate of 0,420 on the error rate of 5% in order
that Ho was accepted.
This result shows th
at there is no significant relationship between dietary
behavior and incidence of anemia in adolscent females.
It is imperative that the female students of SMA N 1 Sleman be
able
to increase
nutritional
knowledge among adolescent females
especially towards
the importance
of energy and protein intake, as well as the importance of iron intake to prevent
anemia
than unhealthy weight loss because in this research, there are students who
still have unhealthy dietary behavior.
