Abstract :
This research is conducted to determine the efforts of police in handling criminal cases of motorcycle theft. Motorcycle theft is a crime that has high number of case statistically in Sleman Area. Based on the above description, the researcher wants to determine the efforts of police as law enforcers in maintaining security, maintaining order, enforcing the law, providing protection, providing shelter and services to the community by doing the thesis entitled The Efforts of Police In combating the Motorcycles Theft in Police Jurisdiction Resort Sleman.The statements of problems in the research are to know the efforts and the obstacles faced by police forces in combating the motorcycles theft in the jurisdiction of Police Resort Sleman. The research method for this study is empirical legal research, while, the source of the data is in the form of primary data and secondary data as supporting data. The conclusion of this research is that the preventive effort is the effective way in tackling the number of motorcycle theft case. Preventive efforts include specific operations, selective raids, and patrolling. However, there are also the obstacles encountered such as the lack of awareness, lack of security system, less the maximum sentence given to perpetrators and lack of social skills to be given to motorcycle theft.
