Abstract :
The objective of this research was to obtain descriptions and analyze the guidance to women prisoners who were undergoing criminal proceedings and having children under the age of five and those who were pregnant at Wirogunan
Penitentiary, Yogyakarta. The research was also to identify and present obstacles or constraints in the implementation of guidance to women prisoners who were undergoing criminal proceedings and having children under the age of five and
those who were pregnant at Wirogunan Penitentiary, Yogyakarta. The type of the research used in this research was a normative legal research, supported by empirical law materials. The approach used in this research was Statue Approach
and The Analytical and Conceptual Approach. The type and technique of nonprobability sampling was purposive sampling. Therefore, the samples required in this research were related to pregnant and postpartum woman prisoners, those having children under the age of five and relevant parties with Wirogunan Penitentiary, Yogyakarta, i.e. the head and supervisors of the inmates. The method of the data analysis used in empirical research was qualitative method, comprised of descriptive, interpretive, evaluative and argumentative methods
