Abstract :
One of the many cultures that developed in the City Yogayakarta is making batik cloth. Batik
cloth in great demand by tourists as souvenirs of Yogyakarta. Nevertheless, the making of batik
cloth can not be separated from waste management batik, batik cloth for the manufacture of
materials that require chemical nature. If waste is not managed properly batik, then it is feared
will become an obstacle in the development of tourism, as the waste liquid batik is closely
related to environmental issues. If waste is not treated well batik, feared would reduce the beauty
and cleanliness of the environment. This of course is contrary to the Sapta Enchantment
Tourism. The purpose of this study was to determine the batik waste management in order to
support tourism development efforts in the city of Yogyakarta and to identify obstacles
encountered in waste management batik to support tourism development efforts in the city of
Yogyakarta. This type of research used in this study is empirical legal research, research that
focuses on the behavior of the legal community and the research needs of primary data as
primary data. The data have been collected qualitatively analyzed descriptively, that is analyzing
the results of research by illustrating the relationships that exist between the research results
obtained to describe and explain a problem, so come to a conclusion. Batik waste management in
support of tourism development efforts in the city of Yogyakarta has not been going well. In the
waste management batik, the fact pattern cleaner production approach has not been able to be
implemented optimally because most of the batik industry in the city of Yogyakarta dispose of
waste without going through the treatment process in accordance with the regulations or
licensing requirements set about it and there is no concrete action from the relevant agencies to
conduct action against the batik industry which has violated the quality standard industrial waste,
especially waste batik industry. Obstacles encountered in waste management in the batik
industry supports the efforts of tourism development in Yogyakarta City is the lack of efficiency
in the processing of batik at the stage of industrial production processes, lack of training to
employers to make batik batik production because the industry is mostly done by the community
independently, batik industry and waste management are not in accordance with Standard
Operating Procedures.
