Abstract :
Displacement air conditioning is one of the air conditioning systems in a building that has been applied in industrial buildings by the Scandinavian countries since 1978. Displacement AC has good air quality room (compared with conventional AC) so as to provide greater comfort for the user. In addition to the advantages, displacement air conditioning has disadvantages which can cause draft cooling effect (for those who are close to the supply diffuser) and the creation of the vertical temperature gradient.The purpose of this research is to know the system and design of the portable prototype diffuser displacement AC that can prevent a draft effect of temperature gradient and spaces, as well as to find out the amount of variety in the size of the diffuser needs spaces (3m x 3m x 4 m and multiply to 28m x 28m x 4 m) as well as the pattern of position. The methods used in this research is simulationusing CFD ACE + programs.The results obtained were in the middle of the room diffuser does not need to wear the steering wind speeds will increase because of wind gusts. For the size space with wide span over 25 m then the more optimal if grid pattern with a diffuser put spreads, whereas the space with wide span 21 m under the pattern of laying the grid spreads as well as centralized has no significant influence of cooling space.
