Abstract :
Yogyakarta is one of the provinces in Indonesia is one tourist destination in the Republic of
Indonesia. As one tourist destination, Yogyakarta has had institutional adequately developed. In
addition to the wealth of geographic, sociocultural wealth with various customs have been well
known in the tourism world tourism growth despite lagging far behind other countries, even
though in the ASEAN region. Tour the museum one of them can be a mainstay in the field of
tourism in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. This is due to the many museums located in
Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study is to investigate and obtain data regarding the
management of the museum with respect to efforts to make the museum as a tourist attraction in
the province of Yogyakarta Special Region and to identify and obtain data regarding the factors
inhibiting the establishment of the museum as a tourist attraction in the Province of Yogyakarta.
This type of research used in this study is an empirical legal research that focuses on the primary
data as the primary data and secondary data as supporting data. The data obtained and compiled
from the results of research, will be analyzed qualitatively. The qualitative method is a method of
data analysis is based on understanding and systematic processing of data obtained from
interviews with respondents, informants, questionnaires and the results of the research literature.
Conclusion The study is concerned with museum management efforts to make the museum as a
tourist attraction in the province of Yogyakarta Special Region can not be performed optimally
in accordance with the provisions of Government Regulation Number 19 Year 1995 on
Maintenance and Utilization of Cultural Heritage Objects in the Museum, particularly in the
Museum Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta, because there is no inventory of collectibles. While utilizing
the museum has been managed in accordance with the aforementioned, because at every museum
has been carried out with various activities. Factors inhibiting the realization of the museum as a
tourist attraction in Yogyakarta Special Province, among others, not Human Resources
professionals, the government's attention to the museum is still lacking, the unavailability of
Human Resources, especially the museum guide, differences in the perception of tourism
development, especially museums, as well as the layout / space exhibition with items that are
shown / displayed out of synch so that less attention.
