Abstract :
Potential of Natural Resources and Human Resources in Batam City is very good, coupled with the support of qualified technology experts and very helpful. It makes Batam City as one city of an industrial center forward. Establishment of modern industries, particularly electronic industries has increased the economy of Batam City. However, besides the development of electronic industries, sometimes Batam City faced the problem of the hazardous and toxic waste of electronic industries which causes environmental pollution. In effort to control the pollution, Batam City require management of the hazardous wastes of electronic industries and step to handled the constraints. From these problems, the empirical research conducted by gathering information through literature study and interviews with respondents and related resource. Based on research conducted in Batam City, the management of hazardous wastes of electronic industries has been running according to the existing provisions, both in terms of licensing and management processes. But, the supervision of BAPEDAL is not maximized. There are still the hazardous wastes pollution in a region with unknown cause and unknown culprit. The supervision of BAPEDAL is not maximized because there are some constraints, such as report environmental documents are not reported to BAPEDAL every 6 months, testing laboratory of hazardous wastes has not been certified, special transportation of BAPEDAL for supervising the management of hazardous wastes is not yet available, etc. Therefore, to handle this problems, BAPEDAL should be apply more intensive the supervision and increase the firmness of the environmental document reporting activities. Beside it, awareness of each actors to manage the hazardous wastes need to be increased.
