Abstract :
Corruption is one of big problems in many countries, especially in Indonesia due of the terrible effects it resulted. The impacts of corruption destroy the principles of national quality, hamper the development and inflict the nation financial loss. Therefore, the government was required to make serious effort to remove it. The government had continuously increased the efforts, which began by issuing the legislation regulation to the estabilishing of special commission to remove corruption, called Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK). It was arranged in the Acts No. 30 of 2002 on the Commission of Corruption Remove that was based on the Act No. 31 Jo the Act No. 20 of 2001 on the Corruption Remove. This paper concerned to the roles of KPK in controlling/ removing corruption, the problems it faced and the effort to handle the problems. While the objective of this study was to collect data about the roles of KPK, the problems it faced and the effort to cope with them. This study use normative method that was studying literature construct both individual and general secondary data. The results showed that the roles of KPK were coordinating the research, investigation and suit criminal act of corruption, collecting information and holding hearing with other institutions concerning to the corruption remove. The problems faced were the clash in the task and function interpretation with other institutions concerning to the corruption remove. The problems faced were the clash in the task and function interpretation with other institutions such as the resources, and insufficient means and infrastructures. The KPK's effort to cope with the problems were promoting cooperation with other parties such as institutions, society, departments, volunteers, and foreign parties such. The writer suggested the KPK improving the quality of potential and profesional human resources that the are not corrupt in performing their jobs and authorities. It also needs be proved independent institution in implementing and taking preventive and firm actions against the corruption.
