Abstract :
Generally, construction project is a series of continuous event that has limited time and only once to be implemented. In this project, there is a process which process project resources into a comprehensive construction. There are either directly or indirectly a lot of resources to be involved in this project. Construction process is a phase of construction that consists of complex scope event and big budget. There are a lot of management practices in construction event to be learned and prepared detailed before getting started. The main goal of construction management is manage transformation process construction drawings and specs into physical plant so that able to meet the main of functional project, products and services. This transformation has to be done in time frame and cost estimation that meet a certain quality standard. The objective of this research was to identify manager's ability and examine the difference of project manager based on experience, age, and education background in construction project management. The research is conducted with a survey method. A structured questionnaire was sent to 30 respondents as a project manager in Yogyakarta. The respondent answer will be compare with the answer from the expert. A Mean Statistic and the ANOVA method were adopted to analyze the data. The results statistically show only 13.3% answer differentiation between the respondent and the expert answer that qualifying as capable manager to conduct basic project management concept properly. This result describes that there is a lack of project manager that able to implement the basic of management concept to panning, organizing, leading and controlling in the execution of project construction process. The ANOVA result shows that education background, age, and experience factor are not influence to the ability of project manager in project construction management.
