Abstract :
Liberalization in international trade create an improtected business arrangement in which a hight competition will be taking place. This an avoidable situation will be faced by the constructions industry. For that the industry has to improve the professionalism of their members. The construction act number 18/1999 is an instrument of policy to improve their professionalism.
This study aim at obtaining information about the competence of construction consultant firms to perform the act. It is also to analyze their relationship between the firms conditions and the competence to perform the act. The sample consist of 33 consultant firms. Of those, 10 respondents are located in Semarang and 23 respondents are in Yogyakarta. A Person's correlation method were adapted to analyze the data.
The result show that the consultant firms have competence to perform the act. It is also shown that is a relationship between their conditions and their competence.
