Abstract :
Given the important role of foreign direct investment in Indonesia's economic development, the understanding of this subject becomes more important in recent years. This study analyses the impact of home country macroeconomic factors on FDI inflow into Indonesia. Multiple regression models are utilized to conduct the analysis of the effect of bilateral trade, GDP, per capita income, the disequilibrium of cost and return of investment, and also foreign exchange on FDI. Multiple regression models with backward elimination are designed to capture models that are significantly explaining the problem. Data from the last ten years show that the main significant positive influence is home country's GDP an the disequilibrium of cost investment (bank's lending rate). Significant negative influences found in the foreign exchange rate between home country's currency and Indonesian Rupiah. All evidences are for Indonesia's FDI inflow from the Triad Countries (Great Britain, Japan and The United States) for the 1995-2004 period.
