Abstract :
In 2015 about 800 Rohingya?s refugees arrived in Aceh, Indonesia. This is caused by the conflict in Myanmar. The refugees fled from their homes as a result of differences in ras and ethnicity in Myanmar. Based on this, UNHCR with the Government of Indonesia help the Rohingya?s refugees with various policies, such as providing shelter, funds, and others. Although Indonesia has not acceded to the Geneva Convention in 1951 and the Protocol of New York in 1967, but Indonesia has been implementing the Principle of Non Refoulment, thus indirectly Indonesia also applied customary international law. This study uses normative legal research, the search for the provisions of international law such as the Geneva Convention in 1951, the Protocol of New York in 1967 and the Statute of UNHCR. Based on this, the authors came to the conclusion that UNHCR has been fulfilling its role in the protection of Rohingya?s refugees in Aceh, Indonesia, this is proven by the variety of activities that encourage the fulfillment of necessity for the Rohingya?s refugees and the provision of assistance to refugees in Aceh, Indonesia. The existence of the role of UNHCR for Rohingya?s refugees is screening and screening out, where the refugees were registered by UNHCR to set the status of a refugee or not. The role of UNHCR to the shelter while they have socialization and collect the data about Rohingya?s refugees, socialization to the public related to the existence of the Rohingya?s refugees in Aceh, Indonesia. The role of UNHCR in its obligation periodically to provide information about Rohingya?s refugees monthly statistical data as a form of transparency UNHCR in Ministry of Foreign Affairs Indonesia.
