Abstract :
Endangered fauna is one of the biological elements that has a ecologic function as a buffer of ecosystem sustainability, but today this function is disturbed by exploitation in endangered fauna through illegal trading. The legal issues raised are: first, how the role of Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA DIY) is played in controlling the illegal trading of endangered fauna in DIY, and, secondly, how BKSDA DIY coordinate with related institutions in controlling the illegal trading of endangered fauna. This research is an empirical legal one, where the data were collected by interviewing the
respondents , and the literature study. The research findings show that BKSDA DIY has played its role in controlling the illegal trading of endangered fauna by coordinating with the related institutions, but that role has not been done thoroughly because of the obstacles that came from the internal and external of the BKSDA DIY. For recommendations, BKSDA DIY is supposed to involve the related institutions in controlling the illegal trading of endangered fauna , and the regulations related to it need to be revised.
