Abstract :
Road Sadang ? Gresik KM 51+000 to KM. 53+700 is in Panceng sub-district,
Gresik district, East Java Province, which is a national road connecting Gresik district
with Lamongan district, which is damaged due to being crossed by overloaded heavy
vehicles or those that exceed the maximum load limit, increasing the load on the road
surface by the wheels. vehicles can accelerate damage to the road structure (decreased
road quality) which causes vehicle speed to decrease and results in longer travel times
and can possibly endanger the safety of drivers (accidents). The aim of this research is
to identify the types of road damage on the Sadang - Gresik Km. 51+000 to Km.53+700
and to determine the value of the road pavement condition using the Surface Distress
Index (SDI). The results of this research are that in segments 11, 12, 14, 17, 18, 22 and
27, the damage that is sufficient to get a large SDI value is wheel ruts. Meanwhile, in
segments 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 15, the damage that received the largest SDI value with
moderate damage classification was cracking. What dominates the road damage on the
Sadang - Gresik road, Gresik from Km 51+000 to Km 53+700 or from segment 1 to
segment 27 are ruts and cracks. In measuring the pavement surface of the Sadang -
Gresik road, 2700 meters long which was divided into 27 segments, damage was
obtained based on the parameters of the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method, namely
crack area, crack width, holes and ruts. By obtaining Good SDI scores of 23 segments
found in segments 1, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24,
25, 26, 27, and medium SDI values of 4 segments found in segments 2, 4, 5, 6.
