Abstract :
One of the motivation or primary purpose to transmigrate is acquiring land, getting better jobs and having a progress in life. Thus, the implementation of the local transmigration program in Lembata should be able to answer transmigrants goals and motivations in order to spur welfare transmigrants on existing sites better than ever. This study was conducted considering more than five years of the transmigration program is running but there has not been a significant change level of welfare at Wateng and Waijarang, Kabupaten Lembata This research employs a comparative descriptive method to compare conditions before and after transmigration. The results show that there is an increase in the welfare of the transmigrants in both locations after local transmigration program even though the percentage of the increment is relatively small. Thus it is necessary efforts and cooperation of the various components in order to improve the quality of the local transmigration program in Lembata, so in the future to be better and beneficial for transmigrants for specific and Kabupaten Lembata in general.
