Abstract :
The purpose of the research was to analyze the reading interests of English education students towards scientific articles, especially journal. This research employed a mix method approach that provided both quantitative and qualitative data. The research participants were 11 students in 6th semester of English Language Education Study Program at one of the private university in Yogyakarta. The research used observation and questionnaire as the instrument to collect the data. The data showed that the majority of the students had low interest in reading journal as they did not have high motivation and spent a little time reading journals. However, the data also showed that students had a good ability to focus on the journals they read and were also able to understand the contents of the journal well. Thus, this research is expected to provide an overview of students' reading interest in scientific articles, especially journals. By referring this research, it is hoped that students can raise awareness to further increase their reading interest in scientific articles and lecturers, who are in charge with the students, can prepare the right strategy to foster students' interest in reading scientific articles.
