Abstract :
A wood lathe is a fairly simple machine, and one of the tools for shaping various kinds of wood into a round shape like a pipe. Its most important parts are the fixed heads, detached heads, retainers and propulsion units, but until now there are still many wood industry entrepreneurs who still use improvised tools so that the results are not optimal. Realizing these conditions, an effort is needed to create a good wood lathe and can be used to improve their production process. From the planning calculations carried out, the dimensions of the tool include the shaft which is also connected as a fixed head with a length of 50cm and a diameter of 25mm, bearings, transmission pulleys, v-belts, drive motors and a frame as a mount for the components mentioned above. After the equipment was finished, experiments were carried out and the results were in accordance with the planning results and were able to increase production. This wood lathe can be maximized because the speed in a process and time becomes efficient/short in work so that it can produce products that have good quality and quantity and the competitiveness of small industries is increasing.
