Abstract :
Basically, the lack of awareness from the community in the process of disposing of waste in its place makes the surrounding environment polluted. At least the awareness to dispose of waste in its place starts from parental education to familiarize their children with disposing of garbage in its place from an early age. presented in an attractive place. One solution that can be done for this problem is to design a tool in the form of a smart trash can that can sort organic and inorganic waste automatically. Therefore, this study aims to realize the design of the tool. The method used in this research is to implement a smart trash can design in the form of a box that has input in the form of Ultrasonic and proximity sensors and outputs in the form of LEDs and servo motors. The results of the tests on the input and output show that the ultrasonic sensor can detect inorganic waste, the proximity sensor detects organic waste, the LED indicates where the organic and inorganic waste is, and the servo motor can drive the mechanical system of the tool. So it can be concluded that the smart trash can work system as a whole can function properly according to the design that has been made.
