Abstract :
In this thesis the author will develop a new technology which is expected to
produce new breakthroughs in utilizing renewable energy in Indonesia. This thesis
aims to produce a prototype of a micro hydro power plant as a student practicum
media. In this thesis the author uses water as a natural resource as a renewable
energy for electricity generation. The technology that the author has developed in
this thesis is only on a prototype scale. In this plant using pelton turbine type as a
propulsion with a number of propulsion counters as many as 8 blades. With 8 drive
blades capable of producing Pout power of 0.27 watts. Large value of the average
voltage when not using a 1.54 volt load. Large value of the average voltage when
using LEDs as a load of about 1.3 volts. The value of the current generated during
testing using 3 volt LEDs as a load is 0.2 amperes. Gear ratios obtained based on
calculations made were 2.27. The value of the speed of water discharge that comes
out of the water pump to drive the turbine blade is 2.88 liters / second. The average
efficiency value on this prototype micro hydro power plant is 1.36%.
