Abstract :
The mental retardation is children who have intelligence under average accompanied the obstacles in adjustment himself with the environment. The number of people mental retardation is 2,3% of the total population in Indonesia. Due to the existence of the mental retardation parents would have been many problems one anxiety. The impact of anxiety that experience parents he old apprehends stupid kid and weak, hiding and not accept conditions children. The study is doing to know the level of anxiety parents to the mental retardation in SLB Rela Bhakti 1 Gamping Sleman, Yogyakarta. Research methodology use is descriptive with the survey method. The sample 47 respondents were using total of sampling technique. Measuring instrument using a questionnaire. The result show that the anxiety parents to the mental retardation of 47 respondents declare that anxiety based on age mostly experienced moderate anxiety of 42,55%, anxiety based on gender mostly experienced moderate anxiety of 53,19%, anxiety based on educational level mostly experienced moderate anxiety of 51,06%, anxiety based on employment mostly experienced moderate anxiety of 44,68%. The general conclusion that the level of parental anxiety in child mental retardation is mostly moderate anxiety.
