Abstract :
Water pumps that are commonly used by farmers for irrigation generally use gasoline-fueled propulsion. The use of gasoline as a fuel will certainly increase production costs for farmers because the price of gasoline is increasingly expensive and the production is decreasing. Therefore, farmers must choose the cheaper alternative fuels to reduce the production costs for example, LPG gas fuel. The purpose of this study was to investigate the engine performance and economic aspects between water pumps fueled by LPG gas and pertalite. From the comparison of LPG and pertalite gas fuels, the highest engine performance was obtained from the pertalite fueled water pump with an output discharge value of 8.336 L/second, an efficiency value of 83.3% and engine power of 0.00629 HP while the performance of the water pump made of LPG gas fuel had a value equal to the output discharge of 8.308 L/second, an efficiency of 83%, and the engine power of 0.006315 HP. From an economic perspective, the water pump engine that uses LPG gas is much more economical than a water pump using pertalite fuel. This proves that the use of fuel in the water pump can affect engine performance and economic aspects.
