Abstract :
The world of aerospace in its development is experiencing rapid progress
such as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) aircraft. Construction materials for UAVs
require materials that are light but still strong and rigid such as hybrid composites.
In the process of making tensile test specimens, the vacuum infusion method
is used. For the dimensions of each specimen the tensile test uses the ASTM D3039
reference. Before carrying out the manufacturing process, the volume fraction is
calculated first. Tensile testing is carried out using the Universal Testing Machine
(UTM).
The results obtained after the tensile test are the ultimate tensile strength
value for the kevlar and carbon fiber hybrid composites, which is 447,525 MPa
compared to the carbon fiber and glass fiber hybrid composites, which are 434,113
MPa or the kevlar and glass fiber hybrid composites, which are 399,380 MPa. The
average ultimate tensile strain value for hybrid composites of kevlar fiber and glass
fiber is greater that is 0,0780 compared to hybrid composites of kevlar and carbon
fiber which is 0,0576 or hybrid composites of carbon fiber and glass fiber is 0,0553.
The average value of the modulus of elasticity for the hybrid composite of carbon
fiber and glass fiber is 5,340 GPa compared to the hybrid composite of carbon fiber
and kevlar fiber which is 4,828 GPa or the hybrid composite of kevlar fiber and
glass fiber is 2,979 GPa.
