Abstract :
Composite is a material formed from a combination of two or more materials. One of
its advantages is that it is light but strong. These composites have many advantages like a
strength to weight ratio, strength to fatigue, corrosion resistance, fire resistance and impact
resistance.
The research method is carried out by how the manufacturing process of Fiber Glass
composites with cloth waste. The materials needed are glass fiber, cotton cloth fiber and
epoxy resin. In the manufacture of composites, the volume fraction was varied 43%, 45%,
47% during the manufacturing process in order to determine which volume fraction was
better. The composite manufacturing results were tested by tensile testing to determine the
tensile strength.
After being tested, the results of the specimen data will be calculated to find the
Ultimate Tensile Strength and Elastic Modulus values and the best results from the
calculations between the three volume fractions are specimens that use a volume fraction
variation of 45%. Then the better volume fraction has been determined.
