Abstract :
The fixed wing UAV is called Sky-beejo. The use of the Sky-Beejo aircraft as a
fixed wing type surveillance aircraft has a long range, but the weakness of fixed
wing is that it requires a wide runway for take off and landing. To be more
effective, developments were carried out in terms of adding VTOL (vertical take off and landing) propulsion to the Sky-beejo UAV. The propulsion system on the
Sky-beejo UAV uses a brushless motor. It requires at least four brushless motors
placed on the VTOL arms located on the left and right of the mid-wing span. Four
were chosen for more stable reasons. The MTOW of the Sky Beejo UAV has
experienced a heavy increase. To select a brushless motor for propulsion, use a
reference data sheet from the manufacturer.
It was found that the total MTOW weight of the Sky Beejo aircraft was 1636 gr or
1,636 kg for the selected propulsion motor, used as a VTOL propulsion system,
namely a brushless motor with the Sunnysky type. Based on aerodynamic
simulations by simulating 3 different speed variations, namely 0.5 m/s with a
result of 6,54414 Kg. A speed of 1 m/s with a result of 6,619036 Kg and a speed of
1.5 m/s with a result of 6,709693 Kg. The resulting drag is relatively low because
the take-off speed varies from 0.5m/s to 1.5 m/s with the largest drag being
1.60528 N and the lowest drag being 0.18058 N.
