Abstract :
Grob G 120-A aircraft is one of the fifth generation flying trainer aircraft
owned by the Indonesian Air Force. This aircraft was specifically designed as an
initial training aircraft for prospective military aviators. This aircraft has high
performance and full virtual tactical training capabilities combined with high speed,
making this aircraft the best overall integrated training system that the Indonesian Air
Force currently has. As a training aircraft that has a high operating interval, various
problems will certainly be found, one of the problems that occur in this aircraft is the
damper strut landing gear component, the right type of maintenance is needed to
minimize or prevent failure. The failure will be analyzed using the Failure Mode and
Effect Analysis method to determine the RPN value in each failure mode in order to
recommend a suitable type of treatment.
The method used in this study is the failure and effect analysis (FMEA) method.
The first step is to identify the failure in each component, each failure mode and the
effects of failures that occur in each component described in the FMEA table. After
that, an analysis is carried out to find the value of the Risj Priority Number by looking
at the severity (Severity), event rate (Occurrence) and detection rate (Detection) of
each component.
The conclusion obtained from the identification of failures that occur in
Damper Strut Landing gear is that there are 10 times the failure of the Damper Strut
landing gear, 5 times the failure of defective damper and Fluid Leak, 5 cases of failure
of Incline Aircraft. Both failure cases have high critical failure modes with RPN 432
values for Damper Defective and Fluid Leak and on Incline Aircraft RPN 384 values.
