Abstract :
Solar thermal energy is very abundant in areas with tropical climates such as Indonesia, which is always illuminated by the sun all year round. This is an energy source that has great potential to be developed. New renewable energy has a positive role and is an alternative energy that needs to be developed. One use of electricity is for Public Street Lighting PJU. The application of solar powered PJU PJUTS is one alternative that can be offered, these solar powered PJU use sunlight as the energy source and batteries as the energy storage source, not only that, the loads used are LED lights which are known to be environmentally friendly.In this research, we will carry out the implementation of the design and construction requirements for solar panels and 20 watt LEDs in the design of solar cell-based PJUs and how to apply and collect data on Solar PJUs using a watt meter. The aim is to determine the need for using 20 watt Solar Panels and Light Emitting Diode LED.The results of the research show that in the design of the Solar Street PJU, the 20 watt LED lights used can operate automatically turning off the lights when the charging process starts from the solar panels and automatically turning on when the solar panels are not absorbing sunlight.
