Abstract :
This research was conducted to identify the effects of rice husk charcoal grains on the composite impact value. This study used sizes without sieve, 20 mesh, 60 mesh and 100 mesh. The materials used were rice husk charcoal particles with a matrix in the form of epoxy resin. The method used in the manufacturing process was hand lay up. The test indicated that the best impact value was on the variation of 100 Mesh (?) with the value obtained 0.1075 J/mm2 . The smaller the particle size, the higher the impact value was generated. It was due to the smaller the particle size of the composite filler, the larger the contact surface between the grains occurred, which meant that more contact zones were formed between the matrix and the amplifier, hence the distribution of the charge transfer would be better. This surface bonding condition had a very important effect on the strength of the composite. Results of SEM (scanning electron microscope) tests taken from the fracture morphology of the composite samplesindicated that there were still many insoluble failures such as the presence of delaminated voids in the composite material.
