Abstract :
Communication strategies and factors are important elements that the Inspectorate must pay attention to when carrying out public communications to overcome illegal levies. The rise of illegal levies in Yogyakarta is making visiting tourists anxious. Communication carried out by the Inspectorate is collecting information to convey that information to the communicant. Therefore, the Inspectorate must have good public communication skills towards the public. This research uses a case study or descriptive qualitative approach in order to find out what a good public communication strategy is. Research Researchers used structured interview techniques, observation, and documentation to collect information from relevant sources. To ensure the validity of the data, data triangulation was carried out, namely a reliability testing method that examines data from different sources at different times. In determining the Inspectorate's public communication strategy it must be based on four components, namely, communicator, Communication Message, Communication Media, and Target Audience. For each communication, there must also be an effect that the Inspectorate faces, namely small change or the small community, and the difficulty of controlling illegal levies on weekends. . From the communication process there are effects, namely, Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral. The public communication strategy carried out by the Yogyakarta Special Region Inspectorate's Extortion Saber Task Force includes utilizing social media as a tool to interact with the public. Social media provides facilities for inspectorates and the public to carry out two-way communication, especially regarding illegal levies. Then, the communication strategy is also carried out face to face through socialization.
