Abstract :
This research is entitled Psychopatic Analysis Of Patrick Bateman In Film "American Psycho" By Mary Harron. The literature on psychopathy covers a variety of topics, including its representation in fiction, developmental perspectives, and its implications for treatment. The reseacher hopes that Researching psychopath films can help us understand how modern culture is shaped by our frequently limited understanding of mental health. The portrayal of psychopathic characters in films can be stereotypical or unrealistic, which can perpetuate harmful or incorrect perceptions of mental illness. This research purpose is focused on discussion on the analysis of psychopath characteristic of Patrick Bateman and the factor causes Patrick Bateman undergone a psychopath. The research method applied in this research was a Qualitative Descriptive, while the method of collecting data used in this research were Textual analysis and Documentary filmmaking. The data were taken from textual material derived from the film, such as screenplays, scripts, or other related documents in film American Psycho. In analysing the data, the researcher began by observing the data, identify the main elements of the story, such as the plot, characters, themes, and visual techniques. The theories used in this research were Neurocism and Characteristics of Psychopath theory of Daniel Boduszek, Agata Debowska, and Dominic Willmott which were used to analyse of Characteristic and Factor causes Psychopatic behavior Patrick Bateman in film American Psycho. Then Psychopatic theory can used to analyse the kind Psychopath behavior around the world. The result of this study is briefly explained as follows. There are five photos identification of characteristics of and factor causes Patrick Bateman become Psychopathic behavior. These characteristic are Callousness, Narcissism, Manipulativeness, Emotional Detachment, Lack Remorse. And the factor cause is also Obsessive-Compulsive Neurotic. First causes Obsessive-Compulsive iv Neurotic is Obessive behavior caused by agents specifically as a his meticulous grooming and hygiene routines, and his fixation on maintaining a perfect outward appearance.
