Abstract :
This research is motivated by the current pandemic that is being experienced
by all students in learning vocabulary that they need to use digital media. The
objectives of this research were to find out students? perception and how they use
Google Translate to enhance their English vocabulary of PBI UAD (Universitas
Ahmad Dahlan) students.
This research belonged to quantitative. The subject of this research was the
students of the fourth and sixth semesters of English Education Department. The
sample consisted of 53 students. The technique of sampling in this research was
used proportional random sampling. The questionnaire included 11 statements
comprising three factors as indicators. To collect the data, a close-ended
questionnaire was used. In analyzing the data, descriptive statistics was used.
The research findings show that students gave positive perceptions with a
score 3.7. It indicated that the students agreed towards the use of Google Translate
to enhance English vocabulary. Then, there were two main strategies with
supporting aspects taken by the students to enhance the vocabulary by using Google
Translate. They were listing and memorizing the words supported by having happy
feelings and ability in operating Google Translate.
