Abstract :
Code-mixing and code-switching occurs in everyday life in the form of speech or text on social media. An example is the YouTube platform, a popular application that provides various types of content. This study aims to determine (1) types of code-mixing and code-switching Indah Gunawan uses (2) the reasons for code-mixing and code-switching by Indah Gunawan. The study was conducted using a qualitative method. Identifying and organizing data for videos on the YouTube channel The Indah G Show was a method of data collection in this study. The theory applied in this study was proposed by Muysken (2000) to analyze different types of code-mixing. And to analyze the type of code-switching, the researcher used Poplack's theory in Hamers and Blanc (2000). Another theory was proposed by Hoffman in Dewi (2015) on the reasons for using code-mixing and code-switching. In this study, three points were discovered through data analysis. The first point is related to different types of code-mixing, including insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. The second point concerns the different types of code-switching, including tag switching, inter-sentential code, and intra-sentential code. The third point concerns the reasons for using code-mixing and code-switching. Of the seven reasons for using the theory proposed by Hoffman (2015), only four were found in the video on the YouTube channel The Indah G Show, including talking about a particular topic, quoting somebody else, interjection, and repetition used for clarification.
