Abstract :
Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is skin to skin contact that is recommended treatment method performed on LBW or premature. This method can prevent heat loss in infants through skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby by conduction and radiation. Health education about PMK can be provided through various media, one of which is video media to increase mother's knowledge. This study aims to determine the effect of the kangaroo method video eduction on the level of knowledge of mothers who have premature babies at PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital. Pre-experimental research method with one group pretest-posttest design. Samples were taken by accidental sampling method, obtained by 15 respondents. Retrieval of data using a questionnaire on the level of knowledge about PMK before and after being given the video. Data analysis used the Paired samples T-test. The results showed that before being given video education about PMK, the majority had sufficient knowledge (60%), whereas after being given video education, the majority had good knowledge (66.7%). The results of the statistical test using the Paired samples T-test showed that p value = 0.000 <0.05, it was concluded that there was an effect of the kangaroo video eduction method on the level of knowledge of mothers who had premature babies at PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital. It is hoped that the relevant agencies can modify the education system related to PMK, for example by having a pre and post assessment of mother's knowledge, more structured education and follow-up after being given this education such as giving leaflets or posters in order to further increase mother's knowledge about PMK.
