Abstract :
Background: Alcohol is a major problem in the world today because it can cause physical, emotional, and even death disorders. Alcohol drinkers not only come from adults, but most of the 14-16 year olds are 47.7% (in 2016).
Aim : This study aims to analyze the relationship between parenting by consuming alcohol in adolescents in Palembang Senior high schools.
Method : This research uses analytical survey method with cross sectional design. With Cluster random sampling with a population of 343 respondents and a sample of 185 respondents with regard to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis using Kendall Tau statistical test.
Result : Parenting patterns in Palembang Senior high schools are dominantly democratic with a total of 81 respondents (43.8%) from 185 respondents, alcohol consumption in dominant adolescents never consumed alcohol as much as 110 respondents (59.5%). Kendall Tau test found that there was a significant relationship between democratic parenting with alcohol consumption in adolescents in Palembang Vocational High School with a value of p = 0.034, there was no relationship between authoritarian parenting by consuming alcohol in adolescents in Palembang Senior high school (p = 0.733) there was a significant relationship between permissive parenting by consuming alcohol in adolescents in Palembang Senior high school (p = 0.001) there was no relationship between situational parenting with alcohol consumption in adolescents in Palembang Senior high schools (p = 0.188). For this reason, the role of nurses is needed as educators to conduct counseling in collaboration with the puskesmas regarding the impact of alcohol.
