Abstract :
Background : the role of nurse as educator and advocate play an important role in
nursing perioperatif, especially in the provision of education, explanation and
information on a patient preoperative. Education, explanation and information is
very determine readiness patients in the face of the act of operating because at this
stage is basis stage for success next stages. The success of nursing preoperative
determined by the role of nurse in the role as associations and educator.
Purpose : research aims to understand picture the role of nurse as educator and
advocate in patients preoperative in the RK Charitas Palembang Hospital 2017 .
A method of : this research in a survey descriptive a total of sampling and the
sample of the consist of 30 respondents. Analysis data was undertaken from the
analysis univariat.
Result: the result of this research or 24 respondents ( 80 % ) having the role of the
educator good, 6 respondents ( 20 % ) the role of the educator inadequate and 27
respondents ( 90 % ) the role of the advocates well as 3 respondents ( 10 % ) the
role of as advocate a less well.
Conclusion: the role of nurse as educator, the majority of respondents have an
important role nurse as educator in patients preoperative good as much as 24
respondents ( 80 % ), the role of nurse as an advocate, the majority of respondents
have an important role nurse as an advocate in patients preoperative good 27
respondents ( 90 % ). Suggested to nurse fixed increase knowledge that the quality
of performance nurse especially in to run their role to educator and advocate in
patients preoperative the better.
