Abstract :
Background: Children are one of the groups that need attention, even when children are being treated at hospitals. Attention obtained from social support. Obtained social support from family, friends her age, their families and professional groups to reduce the anxiety of children hospitalized in the hospital for hospitalization.
Objective: To determine the relationship of social support with anxiety due to the hospitalization of school age in the Pavilion Clara Hospital Myria Palembang Methods: The method used in this research is analytic survey with cross sectional design and using the Pearson chi-square test. The technique of collecting samples at the time of the study using total sampling with samples obtained as many as 35 respondents and using a measuring instrument questionnaire.
Results: 6 respondents who have less social support and mild anxiety 5 (14,3%) of respondents, while those with less social support and anxiety were as many as 1 (2,9%) of respondents, and who have less social support and heavy kesemasan 0 (0%) of respondents. Of the 16 respondents who have enough social support and mild anxiety as much as 3 (8,6%) of respondents, while having enough social support and anxiety were 4 (11,4%) of respondents, and who have enough social support and weigh as much worry 9 (25,7%) of respondents. Of the 13 respondents who had good social support and mild anxiety in 2 (5,7%) of respondents, while having good social support and anxiety were as many as 8 (22,9%) of respondents, and who have less social support and weigh as much kesemasan 3 (4,5%) of respondents.
Statistical test results obtained p value = 0.003 shows that 0.05 can be concluded that there is a relationship between social support and anxiety as a result of hospitalization at school age. Based on the results of the study researchers hope that the children get a good social support from family, friends her age, other professional groups, and their children's playroom all subjects can be useful to reduce anxiety levels in children due to hospitalization.
