Abstract :
Background: Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder characterized by a basic deviation and the existence of different minds, accompanied by an unnatural emotional expression, such as the patient is unable to contact with reality so that they are unable to take a decision. Treatment in schizophrenic patients lies not only in the therapy of psychopharmaceutical drugs, but patients are in dire need of family participation in care and support. Purpose : This study aims to determine the relationship of family role as a driver and coordinator in the supervision of medication with recurrence incident in schizophrenic patients in outpatient poly hospital Ernaldi Bahar Palembang Method : This research use analytical survey method with cross sectional approach, sampling with non probability sampling with purposive sampling is 89 respondents. Results : The results of this study obtained There is a relationship between the role of the family as a driver in the supervision of taking medication with the incidence of recurrence in patients with schizophrenia Poly Outpatient Ernaldi Bahar Hospital Palembang with p value = 0.080 and There is a relationship between the role of the family as a coordinator in the supervision of taking medicine with the incidence of relapse In schizophrenic patients in Poli Outpatient Ernaldi Bahar Hospital Palembang with p value = 0,046. Suggestion : For hospital nurses. Ernaldi Bahar and future researchers need to continue counseling to provide information for families and patients themselves because the new information will be a reference so that expected recurrence rate in schizophrenic patients decreased.
