Abstract :
Background: Baby is a stage of the growth of baby starting from when the neonate process ends until the baby is approximately 12 months old. Breastfeeding is the best nutrition for babies because it contains energy and substances needed by the baby during the first 6 months. The babies can not consume food and drink other food than breast milk or substituted-breast milk or complementary food for early breastfeeding before they are 6 months old. The consume of breast milk also has the benefits to protect the baby from obesity. Research Purpose: The research aims to compare the nutritional status of babies, exclusive breastfeeding and complementary food for early breastfeeding in infants aged 0-6 months between those who live in the city and the village. Method: The research uses an analytical survey approach with a cross-sectional design. The statistical analysis is conducted using chi-square and man Whitney test after obtaining all the data. Result: The result shows that there are 9 babies and 8 babies conducting exclusive breastfeeding in the city and the village, respectively. Furthermore, the result shows 6 babies and 4 babies having complementary food for early breastfeeding. In obesity number, there are 9 babies and 8 babies found having obesity in the city and the village, respectively. The statistical analysis using chi- square shows that there is no difference in exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.136) and early breastfeeding (p-value=0.171) for infants aged 0-6 months old between those who live in the village and the city. The man Whitney test result also support by showing no difference in the nutritional status of infants aged 0-6 months between those who live in the village and the city. Thus, the mother is expected to give breast milk without giving additional food to the baby.
