Abstract :
Background: Hypertension is increased blood pressure to 130-139 mmHg and systolic blood pressure increases to 80-89 mmHg. Non-immediate hypertension can cause complications in the organs of the body released by the coronary arteries, left ventricular hypertrophy, heart, brain, kidney, and eye failure. Complications of hypertension can be prevented by pharmacological management, which requires anti-hypertensive and non-pharmacological drugs with the use of good and correct celery leaves.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of hypertensive patients with the use of celery leaves (Apium Graveolens L.) in the Kenten Palembang Health Center Working Area.
Method: This study used an analytical survey research design by studying cross sectional. The population in this study were hypertensive patients. The sample was taken by 65 respondents and the sampling technique was total sampling. Processing data using the Kendall Tau statistical test of significance ? <0.05.
Results: The results showed that the knowledge of hypertensive patients was categorized as poorly categorized as many as 60 respondents (92,3%), the attitude of hypertensive patients included less category 49 respondents (75,4%), and not using celery leaves a total of 39 respondents (70.8%). Based on the Kendall Tau statistict. There is a relationship between the knowledge and attitude of hypertensive patients with the use of celery leaves in work area Puskesmas Kenten Palembang with p value = 0,001
Suggestion:Suggestions in this study so that hypertensive patients can find out in advance the benefits firsttraditional medicines to be used such as celery leaves to be used properly.
