Abstract :
Background: Social development is the process of achieving children towards maturity in social relations. Children who spend more than 30 hours a week in child daycare show more aggressive behavior such as hitting, bullying, and interrupting other conversation of people.
Research Purpose: The study aims to determine the differences in the socialization ability of preschool-aged children who are cared for by their parents and the children who supervised by daycare service.
Method: The study uses comparative analytical research method with comparative study design. The population in this study are all children aged 3 to 4 years who are cared for by parents and supervised by daycare. The sampling technique is a total sampling method with a sample of 30 respondents. After conducting the research, all the obtained data is analyzed using the chi-square statistical test with a significant limitation of ?<0.05.
Result: The result shows that there is no significant difference in socialization ability of preschool children who are cared for by their parents and supervised by daycare service of Kesuma Day Care Palembang. It is based on the statistical analysis result which shows p-value of 0.136 which higher than the significant limitation (p-value > ?).
Recommendation: Stimulation of the social development of children should be given to children as early as possible. The parents should also be more careful in choosing a daycare service centre.
