Abstract :
Background: In schizophrenic patient?s, one of the problems that is often found is a matter of self-care. This case shouldn?t be underestimated, therefore required the involvement of nurse to providing nursing services with professional manner in accordance with her roles as a nurse.
Aim: The study was designed to know the relationship of nurse?s roles as care giver, educator, and coordinator toward the ability of personal hygiene schizophrenic patient?s inpatient unit Ernaldi Bahar Hospital Palembang.
Method: this study was used analytic research desaign with cross sectional approach and the sample consisted of 83 respondents using purposive sampling technique.
Result: the result of univariate analysis statistical variable caregiver role well is 71 respondents (85,5%), educator role well is 75 respondent (90,4%), coordinator role well 72 respondent (86,7%). Statistic result of bivariate analysis using chi square (? ?0,05), in the nurse?s roles as care giver is p value = 0,006, roles as educator is p value = 0,032, roles as coordinator is p value = 0,004, it means is a significant relationship between nurse?s roles as care giver, educator, and coordinator with the ability of personal hygiene schizophrenic patient?s. For nurses expected to remain on roles with full responsibility, that ability of personal hygiene patient?s getting better.
