Abstract :
Personal Hygiene in a limited mental disturbance patients require the role of the family. Some of family?s role namely as a connector, motivator, and family caregiver. Personal hygiene done to mantain the personal hygiene itself, create beauty, as well as to improve the health of individuals. The study was designed to know the relationship of family?s roles as a connector, motivator, and family caregiver toward the ability of personal hygiene in mental disturbance patient?s in Ernaldi Bahar Hospital Poly Palembang. This study was used analytic reseacrh design with cross sectional approach. In choosing the sample, used purposive sampling technique with 98 respondents. The analysis of univariate statistical test variable connector role of the family as well 52 (53,1%) respondents and poor connector role is 46 (46,9%) respondents. Variable motivator role of the family as well is 51 (52%) respondents and poor motivator role is 47 (48%) respondents. Statistic result of unvariat. Variable caregiver role of family as well is 44 (44,9%) respondents and poor caregiver role is 54 (55,1%) respondents. Statistic result of bivariate analysis using chi-square with the significant level 95% or ? ? 0,05. The result of this study role as connector was p value = 0,017, family?s roles as motivator was p value = 0,028 and family caregiver was p value = 0,011. It means that therewere a significant relationship between family?s role as connector, motivator, and family caregiver in the ability of personal hygiene in mental disturbance patients. Expected to increase activity providing health education on personal hygiene by providing personal hygiene brochure and held the patient home visits.
