ABSTRACT
Vocabulary mastery is one of the important components in learning English.This
studyaimed to investigate the effects of Kahoot! towards students? vocabulary
mastery of tenth grade students in a senior high school in Palembang. This study
implemented experimental design and quantitative data. The participants of this
research were 58 social science students in one of private school in Palembang.
This research used purposive sample to select the participants. They were divided
into experimental and control class. Vocabulary test, questionnaires, and
interviews were used as the instruments of this research. Vocabulary tests was
validated with Iteman program. The results of students? tests were analyzed with
SPSS program. The research showed that there were effects on students?
vocabulary mastery by using Kahoot! and any effects on students? vocabulary
mastery by conventional teaching. The researcher also found that there was
significant difference between students? vocabulary mastery by using Kahoot! in
experimental class and control class by conventional teaching. The results in this
research showed the students? perceptions in experimental class who are taught by
using Kahoot! and the students? perceptions in control class who are not taught by
using Kahoot!. This concluded that the hypotheses of this research were accepted.
