Abstract :
The current development of telecommunication technology is able to create various kinds of hardware that can be used to send or receive information quickly and easily. The development of existing telecommunications technology results in the possibility that existing or stored information is easy to read, one of which is SMS messages. Unfortunately, an operator can view or read the message content. If the contents of the message can be read by other people, then the message sent is not safe because the contents of the message which are supposed to be secret can be seen and read by others. To solve this problem, an android application will be created using the Blowfish cryptographic algorithm for the encryption and decryption of text messages. This application was created in Eclipse, using the JAVA programming language. After making the application and the testing process, the results show that Blowfish cryptography can be used to encrypt and decrypt messages that will be sent to the recipient of the message. The message sent can only be read by the recipient of the message who has the Blowfish cryptography application and has exchanged keys between the message recipient and the sender of the message.
