Abstract :
In the world, hypertension is currently increasing and about 1 in 5 people have hypertension. In thus requires treatments to prevent its complications and aromatherapy is one of the alternative treatments. Research related to the effect of the aromatherapy on blood pressure has been widely carried out, around 155 artikel, each study with the different results. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysys study was conducted. Objective : This study aims to investigate the effect to giving inhalation aromatherapy on blood pressure of hypertension patients systematically and comprehensively so that the obtained results are more accurate and representative. Methods : In this study, researchers used secondary data, there were 155 articles from 2015 to 2020, that were searched systemically from the Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect data base, then obtained 4 articles with 1 article having a quasi experimental design and 3 articles with randomized controlled trial (RCT) design. and statistical tests were carried out with comprehensive meta analysis software. Result : There was a significant difference in systolic blood pressure between the intervention group and the control group with a p-value = 0.00 and a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 6 mmHg. In diastolic blood pressure there was also a significant difference between the intervention group and control group with a p-value = 0.00 and a decrease in diastolic blood pressure of 2,99 mmHg. Conclusion : Aromatherapy has a significant effect in reducing blood pressure of hypertension patients. Suggestion : Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy in nursing care. For further researchers, a thorough article search and selection of the RCT design in the study are suggested to prevent bias
